About the role
Job Title: Operations Scientist
Location: Witney (OX29 0YL)
Pay Rate: £33,500 per annum
Contract duration:12 months
Hours: Monday to Friday
Work mode: Onsite
Responsibilities
- To provide support to Operations through scientific experimentation and prototype fabrication. To perform testing of product or materials analysis, reporting and review of results
- Perform testing to protocol or procedure whilst adhering to good laboratory practice
- Develop protocols to accomplish goals
- Produce prototype product or communicate protoype requirements to support experiments.
- Utilise analytical instruments and train others in their operation
- Participate in experimental design discussions, identify variables that may impact experimental results
- Analyse data, evaluate results and form conclusions
- Prepares effective summaries of results and communicates these to wider team
- Compile and maintain records as required by good laboratory practice
- Writes clear and technically correct reports with feedback from colleagues
- Liase with other departments and present technical information to team meetings
- Have awareness of change control procedures applicable to role
- Know and apply knowledge of health and saftey procedures
- Responsible for own laboratory notebook and for the accuracy, quality and timeliness of experimental results
- Ensures that all work complies with the quality system
- Uses scientific and industry literature to broaden technical and theoretical understanding
- Highlights improvement opportunities to manager
- Purchases equipment as required and within budget
- Consistently demonstrates recognised behaviours
- Core responsibilities include supporting the manufacturing of strip and sensor products by performing root cause analysis, managing supply chain resilience by identifying second-tier suppliers, writing protocols and reports for development trials, and supporting material transfer for new products
Experience/Background
- Experience of working in a laboratory, scientific or technical environment or other relevant industry
- Experience of writing technical reports and presenting results
- Limited technical knowledge
- Good working knowledge of software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
