The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Class 2 Relief Driver to join our client’s operation in Yate, Bristol.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver looking for a stable Monday-to-Friday position, with no unsociable hours and an excellent work-life balance.
The role is particularly well suited to drivers who have recently gained their Class 2 licence and are looking to build further experience in a professional transport operation.
The Role
As a Class 2 Relief Driver, you will provide flexible support across the operation, helping to cover driver shortages, sickness and annual leave.
When relief cover is not required, you will typically be out on the road with another driver, gaining further experience and supporting the wider delivery operation.
Your duties may include:
- Covering driver sickness and annual leave
- Completing last-minute or additional delivery runs
- Supporting the final driver out on the route when required
- Operating Class 2 HGV vehicles for multi-drop deliveries
- Working across a delivery area covering South Wales and the South West of the UK
- Delivering goods safely and on time
- Following the transport plan and ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently
- Carrying out pre-shift vehicle defect checks
- Securing loads safely to prevent damage or accidents
- Providing excellent customer service at delivery sites
- Complying with UK traffic laws, transport regulations and company safety standards
- Supporting the wider transport team with general operational requirements when driving is not required
- Carrying out any other duties commensurate with the role
- The number of drops will vary depending on the distance and delivery area, but as a rough guide, drivers can expect approximately 6–12 drops per area.
Working Hours
This is a Monday-to-Friday role with a 06:00 start.
The position operates on a 48-hour contract, with hours variable and an average of 48 hours worked over a 17-week reference period.
There are no unsociable hours, and the role is designed to provide a consistent Monday-to-Friday working pattern.

Requirements
To be considered for the role, you will need:
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Ideally a minimum of 6 months–1 year of Class 2 driving experience
- A good driving record
- A reliable and flexible approach to work
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to cover different requirements across a busy transport operation
- A strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Full training and supervision will be provided as part of the induction process.

You will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently across South Wales and the South West of the UK, while delivering an exceptional level of customer service.
