Teaching Assistant

Overview

We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a forward-thinking specialist SEN College in Lambeth. The college supports learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism, PMLD, complex needs, and communication difficulties.

With the recent opening of a brand-new site, the college is entering a dynamic phase of growth and development. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an expanding provision that is committed to empowering young people to achieve their goals and develop essential skills for adulthood.

Age Range: 16–19+ years

Contract: Monday to Friday 8:30am To 4:00PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored in-class support to enable students to access personalised learning programmes.

• Foster positive and trusting relationships that promote independence, confidence, and life skills development.

• Support students with personal care, mobility, and emotional regulation where required.

• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to ensure a consistent and nurturing learning environment.

• Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies where necessary.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience supporting young people with SEN (Autism, PMLD, or complex needs desirable).

• Calm, patient, and resilient with a proactive mindset.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

Successful applicants must hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate. Full support will be provided throughout the process.
