Senior Product support engineer

🚨 Senior Production Engineer | Defence & Advanced Manufacturing | South Coast 🚨

Our client, a leading organisation within the Defence & Advanced Manufacturing sector, is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer to play a key role in manufacturing operations, new product introduction (NPI), and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality products while driving efficiency, process optimisation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide production engineering support across manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and production methods.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities.
• Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, and build packs to ensure manufacturability.
• Investigate production and quality issues using structured root cause analysis techniques.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
• Create and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, and safe systems of work.
• Lead PFMEA, error-proofing, waste reduction, and continuous improvement activities.
• Support non-conformance investigations and drive timely issue resolution.
• Monitor production KPIs and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and production personnel.
• Collaborate closely with Quality, Planning, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.

Requirements

• Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience within a production engineering or manufacturing engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimisation techniques.
• Experience working with CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Ability to create and maintain manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
• ERP/MRP system experience would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
